We spent a year through tears and cheers;
we fought all wars, we faced all fears.
We’re ready for a whole new round,
through smiles and frowns, through ups and downs.
Sit still. Feel the wind.
Hear it roar, let it push you.
Let it embrace you, let it swipe across your face.
Watch branches dance, some so wild leaves break off.
Strong is the sturdy tree trunk,
unmoved, unbowed, unwavering.
Deeply rooted into the ground,
standing firm despite the fierce breeze.
I hope more people could be like it -
people who stick to what they believe is true;
anchored on facts, not on emotions;
standing firm for the good of many.
Just like how leaves and branches grow out of,
and get supported by the sturdy tree trunk.
My silence, their noise.
Look around, listen.
Quick, uncertain glances up the menu.
Muffled conversations around.
In the middle of this sea of humanity,
I savor the moment of being alone.
Away from the life I wake up to,
a break from the world where I’m in control.
Here, I’m a nobody, a cog in the machine,
a speck of dust floating in the air.
An audience of one viewing the audience itself
on a 360-degree panoramic 5DTV.
My role’s reduced to a quiet spectator,
doing nothing else but eat and stare aimlessly.
My eyes wander as my mouth munches.
I look at people without hints of recognition.
Marvel at the sights of aligned tables,
and revel in the sounds of cash registers.
Shopping carts wheeled up and down the ramp,
spoons and forks returned in utensil trays.
Let your mind calm you down, despite the chaos all around.
Watch and listen to the world as it moves in front of your eyes.
To me, what better way to spend some time alone
than to sit in the middle of it all and be incognito.
Ang nakakainis dito sa atin,
ang dami-daming inuungkat na isyu, wala namang natatapos.
Puro exposé, wala namang closure.
Puro bintang, ‘di naman mapatunayan.
Puro speech, pero hanggang salita lang.
Puro emosyon, wala namang aksyon.
Natatabunan ang tunay na problema ng iba’t ibang bagay na walang katuturan.
Hay, Pilipinas… Mistula kang isang taong heartbroken
Hindi makausad dahil hindi maka-move on.
